You should know the facts before you make random negative comments. I have almost an acre fenced in with cattle fence and it is backed up with an invisible fence. I have the small pen because I was using it while conditioning the litter. You know getting them use to different environmental WHILE keeping them safe. Those were the two pups I kept out of the litter so they are a little bigger. The problem is they were still small enough to climb through the cattle fence and too young to start invisible fence training. I let them run around a bunch while I was outside watching them but I wasn't ready for them to come inside, so they were put in the pen. If you don't have anything nice to say please don't comment. Fencing Options For Your Home and Property
"Good fences make good neighbors," wrote a beloved American poet decades ago. There is some truth in the idea that some of us function better when we know and respect common boundaries. This can be especially true when we put up fences in our lawns and around our property to keep trespassers out and the children or pets in. Still, it's not easy choosing where to put up fencing, the type that will best fit a property, and the most effective for a particular purpose. 1. Choose a style that meshes with your property style. For example, if your home is a Victorian, look for old-fashioned fencing designs that bring back the days of old, like a white picket style. Instead of the painted wood framework that quickly peels and can easily rot, you can now get vinyl fences that look like traditional wood but will actually hold up much longer and require little maintenance.
2. Look for fencing that will fit your property structure. For example, even if you love wrought iron spikes, they may not look that great on your country farmhouse lawn. Choose a design that flows with the overall theme of your yard or lawn. You might want to get a few sample pieces and try them in various places of your open space to see how they fit. Or check out images on the Internet and possibly drive around the neighborhood for some ideas on how to use fencing in creative ways.
3. Get the type of fencing that serves your purposes. An invisible dog fence will help to keep your pets from wandering off the premises. But it will not keep other dogs or animals from approaching your dog. You may need a chain link fence to prevent other kids or pets from wandering over your lawn and perhaps doing damage or causing problems by digging up a flowerbed or chasing your cats.
4. Decorative fencing adds attractive accents. Consider adding a wooden rail fence in just a corner of your yard as a focus point, perhaps accented by clusters of daffodils or mums. A low vinyl picket fence makes a nice border along the side of the garage or shed. Use your creativity while shopping at lawn and garden stores or browsing catalogs to select a useful or attractive fence that will add to your property's value.
Fences can be functional or aesthetic in nature; it's really up to you. There are numerous styles, materials, and designs available today, and you can shop online if you aren't able to get out to the stores. Fencing all or part of your property can help to protect it, discourage intruders, and make it attractive simultaneously. Don't overlook fencing options when planning next year's lawn or garden.

Metal Detector EMI Interference From Dog Invisible Fence
Electric Invisible Fence causes metal detector to go haywire. I arrived to hunt a property and was shocked to find my Teknetics Delta 4000 was going crazy in all modes: All metal 1, All metal 2, and Discrimination. Electromagnetic interference from somewhere? After talking with the home owner I discovered that there was an invisible fence installed for their dogs. After it was turned off the detector worked normally.

The Advantages Of An Invisible Dog Fence
When you're erecting a dog fence at home, spare a thought for the people who built the Dingo Fence in Australia. It was put up in the 1880's to protect enormous flocks of sheep in Southern Queensland, where Dingoes had almost been exterminated.
To prevent Dingoes from other areas getting to the sheep, the fence was built. It is 6 feet high and there is one foot of it underground, with uprights every 9 metres. It's the longest fence in the World, stretching 5,320 kilometres which is over 3,305 miles! Ironically, it has not been a complete success - dingoes still lurk in the area!
Does Your Dog Need An Invisible Fence?
Some dogs delight in damaging flower beds and destroying vegetable gardens. Worse still, they might escape and cause an accident - for which you would be liable. If you don't want very high, solid fencing around your property - or the price of it, it might be time to consider an 'invisible' fence.
What Is An Invisible Fence?
There are many of these on the market now and they all work in a similar way. An invisible fence allows you to have one or more dogs running freely on your property, within boundaries chosen by you.
How Do These Fences Work?
A wire (of anything up to 400m long) is put onto the ground, buried just under the surface or attached to a fence that is already there. The wire carries a signal transmitted from a small unit. The dog wears a special collar that receives a signal if he goes near the wire.
The signals are usually zoned. When the dog gets anywhere near the wire he goes into a 'warning zone' and he will hear a warning 'beep' from his collar. If he gets even closer, he goes into a 'correction zone' and will receive a buzz from a small electrical impulse via the collar.
Once the dog begins to realise the boundaries, the owner can reduce the electrical impulses and rely on the audible warnings. Eventually, once the dog is reliable and not going anywhere near the fence, the collar may be taken off - or substituted for a dummy collar while he's on - probation'!
Making Adjustments To The System
These fences can be set up to suit any dog and any layout defined by the owner. The distances of both the warning and the correction zones can be adjusted. The strength of the electrical impulse can be altered to suit the size and temperament of the dog.
Will My Dog Be Hurt By The Electrical Impulses?
No - it doesn't hurt. It's not a new idea - this has been used in different forms of dog training for more than 40 years.
I Have More Than One Dog - Will This System Still Work?
Yes - with these systems, as long as each dog has a collar with a receiver, the system will work for them all.
Don't Forget The 'Dummy' Collar
Most systems recommend that your dog wears a dummy collar for a few days prior to the invisible fence being set up. This is for two reasons. It lets the dog get used to the collar so that it's not distracted by the unusual feel of it when the zone impulses start to be used. It's also important because it can be counter-productive for the dog to associate the impulses with the collar, rather than the fence.
What Happens If My Dog Gets Through The Fence?
This is very rare and usually means that the collar isn't fitting properly, leading to the dog receiving weak or no impulses.
